About Me: Welcome, my name is Mediha. I taught second grade at a public school for seven years and currently work as a Sociology Professor at the community college level. You'll find here the resources I am using for my children's educational enrichment and tips on outdoor adventures. This content is for parents and teachers of kids ages 3-8.
Teaching Philosophy Our family belief is that little ones need plenty of free time to play outside. We believe our children learn many skills by riding their bikes, going on hikes, and coming up with their own games. Unstructured free play time is highly important. Education should be developmentally appropriate, not a race to grow up, not a competition. We do not believe there is one right approach to teaching, each child is different and pedagogy differs accordingly, however hands-on learning is central to my approach. My husband and I agree that our main goal and hope is to guide our children to be kind people, productive members of society, who feel connected to God and nature.
My ideas are a combination of strategies I used when teaching elementary school students, inspiration from fellow educators on Instagram, and ideas from my teacher friends. I always try to give credit to all those who inspire my ideas and never claim anyone's content as my own. I hope this website is helpful to fellow parents and teachers. I am also on Instagram at RunLoveLearn.
